What Is Pulse and How Do I Turn It On?

Pulse is an engagement layer that sits on top of the class, enrollment and certification data you are already producing. It gives your organization, your instructors and your students a running picture of the impact your training has, and it celebrates milestones along the way. There is nothing to configure and no data to import — Pulse reads what is already in your account.

Before You Begin

  • Pulse is available under Grow in the left navigation. If you do not see it, confirm your role has access under Settings > Permissions.
  • No setup or data import is required. Pulse reads your existing class, enrollment and certification records.
  • Decide in advance whether your organization wants to appear on public leaderboards, and under what handle.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open Pulse

  1. Click Pulse in the left navigation, under Grow.
  2. The page opens on the Overview tab. Four tabs are available: Overview, Leaderboards, Challenges and Rewards.
  3. A Refresh button and a Pulse Settings button sit in the top right.

Step 2: Turn Pulse On or Off

  1. Click Pulse Settings. The settings panel opens above the dashboard.
  2. Toggle Enable Pulse.
  3. Click Save.

When Pulse is switched off, every Pulse feature is hidden from your organization — the nav item, the instructor rank card and the student readiness display. Turning it back on restores everything; no history is lost while it is off.

Step 3: Review What Pulse Shows You

The Overview tab is made up of five panels:

  • Lives Ready — how many people in your community currently hold a valid certification through your organization, with the number of active certifications and a quality multiplier beneath it.
  • Organization Tier — your current tier, lifetime Beats, and a progress bar toward the next tier.
  • My Instructor Rank — your personal rank, lifetime Beats and current teaching streak, with a Share card button.
  • Recent Activity — a running log of the events that earned Beats.
  • Badges — the badge set with a completion count.

Nothing to set up. Pulse is calculated from records you already have. If the numbers look stale, click Refresh at the top of the page rather than re-entering data.

Best Practices

  • Leave Pulse enabled even if you are not using leaderboards — the Overview tab is useful on its own, and history keeps accruing.
  • Set your anonymous handle before joining leaderboards, so your first public appearance uses the name you want.
  • Use Share card on the instructor rank panel for social posts and instructor recognition.
  • Check Recent Activity when a number moves unexpectedly — it shows the exact events that awarded Beats.
