Delivering Blended Learning with CPR Enroll SCORM Courses

You can pair an online SCORM course with an in-person skills session without buying external keycodes — the online portion is delivered by CPR Enroll itself. This article covers how the two halves are assembled and what keeps the roster compliant.

Before You Begin

• Have your online content ready as a SCORM package. See Uploading and Managing eLearning Packages.
• A blended program is two courses, not one. See Live vs. Digital (SCORM): Choosing a Course Delivery Format.
• Your existing keycode workflows are unaffected — this is an addition, not a replacement.

Step 1: Build the Online Half

1. Upload the online content under Course Builder → eLearning packages.
2. Link it to a course whose delivery format is Digital (SCORM).

Step 2: Build the Skills Half

1. Create the skills-session course as a Live course.
2. On that course, choose the Online SCORM Course (CPR Enroll) delivery method for its online requirement.

This sits alongside the existing methods — Keycode, Static Link and Downloadable File.

✔ Don’t see the CPR Enroll SCORM option? The delivery-method choices available on a course depend on your account’s configuration and release version. If the skills-session course only offers Keycode, Static Link and Downloadable File, the CPR Enroll-delivered option is not enabled for your account yet — contact support before building the blended pair, because the completion gate described below depends on it.

Step 3: Schedule It

Schedule the skills session as a class with class type Blended.

✔ Class type Blended is what ties the two halves together at scheduling time. A Live course scheduled as In Person will not enforce the online requirement.

Step 4: Know What the Student Experiences

1. Online access is created automatically at registration; the student receives instructions to get started.
2. Progress is tracked on the enrollment record as Not Started, In Progress or Completed, with a completion date and time.
3. The student completes the online portion, then attends the hands-on session.

Step 5: Rely on the Completion Gate

A skills session cannot be completed until the required online course is finished. If a student arrives without having completed the online portion, an admin notification is raised.

This is the safeguard that keeps blended rosters compliant — it is not something you have to police by hand.

✔ The gate protects the certificate, not the class. The student can still attend; what is blocked is completing them on the roster before the online work is done.

Step 6: Keep Using Your Existing Delivery Methods

Keycodes for AHA, Red Cross, HSI and other providers, static links and downloadable files all continue to function exactly as before. The CPR Enroll SCORM option is an addition, not a replacement.

Best Practices

• Name the two courses so the pairing is obvious — “… (Online)” and “… (Skills)”.
• Check online progress on the roster the day before the skills session. It is a far better conversation than the one at the door.
• Say in your confirmation email that the online portion must be finished before class. The gate will hold, but nobody enjoys discovering it in person.
• Keep using keycodes where a certifying body requires them — mix and match by course, not by policy.
• Watch for the admin notification. It is your early warning that a roster will not close.
